Parties and “kuiers” over the years
Going through old photos of kuiers and parties, I realised that we have had our share of great parties here at the Williston Mall.
Kitchen teas, kiddie’s parties, birthdays, weddings, live bands, dart nights, chess nights, rugby, functions and sommer lekker kuiers. Sometimes I miss those days. Robbie behind the bar, kitchen going with spareribs, pizza and chicken strips. Elmarie throwing pot and pans while I make music and pour shooters.
Gerhardi and the BULLS, Schalk singing at our valentine dinner … wow … The Madeliefies performing and singing for the guests. I still miss the morning meetings with coffee with the attorney, the farmer, the businessman and invited guests.
It was great, we were known for our mixtures of shooters as well as “Die Trein” What happened at the Pub stayed at the Pub. I loved having the youngsters over on a Saturday morning for Breakfast and vodka and orange juice. Suppers in the “woelpoel” and pole dancing. Sjoe through the years Elmarie had to throw out a lot of patrons.
We had great fun with the hunters ( shabala ), bikers, Bull run fanatics, Africa Burners and had some amazing live artists that performed. Johann and Gerrit of the Williston Stoftrappers use to be part of the furniture and the sound of the accordion and guitar still remains in this place.
Through the years we had many theme parties. It was always fun to dress up and decorate the Williston Mall. My favourite was definitely the Super Hero- and Beach Parties. Late night discussions and dares and a lot of Rikkie Louw …. I would not want to change any of it.
You look at the photos and you see young people that have become older today and dear friends that are not here anymore. Strange how life flies by and in a wink of an eye many, many things have changed forever.
